Yesterday, while I was waiting for my favorite pilates class to start, the instructor asked if anyone was traveling for Thanksgiving. I eagerly responded that, yes, I am — to Virginia. She immediately laughed. I’m still getting used to the fact that, when you live in DC, going to Virginia isn’t exactly traveling. But, in all fairness, I am headed to Charlottesville, so it’s a little bit of a hike. Regardless of your definition of travel, I think we can all agree that good times are upon us because tomorrow’s Thanksgiving.
a is for abnormal | So, as you now know, I’m headed to Charlottesville for the holidays, but this is a somewhat abnormal destination for me. Yes, I’m headed to my parents’ house, but they actually just moved there, so I’ve never seen the place before. Though I’m incredibly excited to lounge around with the family, cook awesome food with my mom, and cuddle with my dog and cat, truth be told, it’s kind of weird not to be headed back to the sweetest place on Earth (aka Hershey, Pa). But, alas, I’m sure eventually it will no longer feel strange.
b is for bewitching | The first snowfall has to be marked as one the most magical times of the year. Though DC’s ground has yet to be covered in snow, did anyone else catch the glistening snowflakes Saturday night? Maybe it’s just because they’re exactly what I needed to be pulled out of the doldrums, but I found them utterly bewitching that night.
c is for charmed | One thing I’m certainly thankful for is the rather charmed life I lead. Sure, it has it’s ups and downs, but I’m incredibly fortunate. Now, my point here is not to brag by telling people how great my life is, but rather to thank everyone in it. Happy Thanksgiving!!
