So the most shocking thing would have to be that this is edition six. Sure, six is a relatively small number, but what it actually means is that I’ve been in D.C. for nearly three months and have been writing this series for nearly two. Boy, does time sure fly — and now for the ABCs!
a is for artsy | Though I’m incredibly happy where I live, part of me kind of wishes I would have moved to the area a bit later so that I could have snagged one of the awesome apartments at the Monroe Street Market. It’s not the apartments themselves that draw the appeal, but the artsy community that’s bound to form, thanks to the artist walk filled with artisan stores and studios. Don’t miss their Art in the Mix festival this weekend, which will (squeal!) feature The Sartorialist.
b is for bountiful | This past Sunday, my mom indulged the five-year-old in me and drove all the way from Pa. to take me apple picking in Md. As a result, I now have a bountiful loot of apples and have consequently had one for breakfast each day. But, hey, I’m not complaining. I’ve made apple pie oatmeal, paired one with scrumptious farmer’s market yogurt, and am even planning my breakfast breakaway. I’m seeing apple-butternut squash soup in my future and perhaps some sweet desserts, as well.
c is for creative | I’m really banking on my creative juices to start flowing shortly, as I’m still on the hunt for a Halloween costume. I already have one stowed away, but one is simply not enough. With everything going on in the District, I’m thinking I’m going to need at least two. Soliciting suggestions — and, also, what are you planning to dress up as? I promise I won’t steal your idea.
