Today’s been a fun-filled Tapestry day! I was able to speak with four wonderful women, who are each doing unique, inspiring things with their lives. Two of them are designers, who are taking the plunge in building their own start-ups. I first spoke with 2012 Parsons Graduate Eleen Halvorsen, who is fast at work launching her second collection. I cannot wait to see it, as her first collection was breathtaking. Quick look here:
The other designer, Jasmine Zhou of Hudiefly, was incredibly sweet, and I just love how her company uses environmentally friendly materials to create its bohemian line.
After speaking with these two lovely designers on the phone, I then had a Skype call with Holly Bantleman, who arrived in Kenya yesterday. Though the Skype connection wasn’t great (so thankful we were actually able to connect because, I mean, she was in Kenya after all), we were able to work out an insanely awesome idea for her Tapestry project about Raise The Roof. I can’t wait to see what becomes of it.
Finally, I closed the day with a call with DC-based Shavannia Williams, who started Heels and Helmets — an organization that helps women “get in the game” by teaching them about sports, networking and more. Huge respect for this gal, as I have zero knowledge on sports, but absolutely love what she’s doing.
