And the Oscar goes to…

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards is officially 2 days away! Anne Hathaway and James Franco are set to host this year’s award show and even recreate a scene from Grease (an online source states). Watch the Oscar Promo below:

2011 Oscars

With films like Black Swan, King’s Speech, and the blockbuster hit(for what seemed to be an endless amount of weeks) Inception nominated for several categories, this award show should be filled with several pleasant surprises.  The Social Network also up for Best Picture and highlights the somewhat social uprising and downfall of Facebook’s founder (or was he really?) Mark Zuckerberg. Other movies nominated for best picture are: The Fighter, The Kids Are All Right, 127 Hours, Toy Story 3, True Grit, and Winter’s Bone.

Best Actor: Will household name Jeff Bridges who earned his sixth Academy Award nomination and fourth Golden Globe nomination for his role in True Grith win? Or will it be new comer Jesse Eisenberg who has been nominated 17 times including Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association award for best actor and best ensemble and has already won 7 awards for his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg?

Best Actress: Who was your favorite out of Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman (who I LOVED in No Strings Attached), or Michelle Williams?

Best Director: Nominated in this category are Darren Aronofsky for  ’Black Swan’ The Coen Brother’s for ’True Grit’, David Fincher for The Social Network,Tom Hooper for The King’s Speech, and David O’Russell for The Fighter. The all male nominees this year is sort of disappointing considering last year’s best director went to Kathryn Bigelow for Hurt Locker. *We’ll get them next time Ladies*

Documentaries: Out of the nominees, Gasland by Josh Fox and Trish Adlesic is the only one I have a heard a constant buzz about. In fact everyone’s favorite  (or maybe not so favorite) former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann tweeted:

Apparently someone in the gas industry didn’t thinking Fox’s documentary was actually a documentary and wrote a letter saying that it shouldn’t be nominated. Sorry gas company big whig, it’s still nominated.

I’m excited for this year’s academy awards and wish all the nominees the best. Hopefully, next year another Tyler Film will be nominated (For Colored Girls was bamboozled!), but I digress…
